Young Jack Gratton enjoyed some success at his first time showing sheep.
Jack (12) from Whaplode, was showing a yearling ewe loaned to him by Andrew Vernon, of Moulton, at The Lincolnshire Show.
Andrew said: “Jack has some sheep of his own which I sold to him last year and he’s had four yearling ewes and he showed two of them yesterday in the commercial classes, coming fifth out of 14, which is very good for a first go.”
Jack was also fifth in the Young Handlers class, which family friend Keith Collin, who brought Jack to the show, said was a good result.
Jack admitted to being a little bit nervous but was happy with the result, and added: “It’s all thanks to Andrew that I am here.”
Jack’s award was just one of a number gained at the show by south Lincolnshire people in the sheep and cattle classes. Full story in Tuesday’s paper.
