All aboard for the big Spalding clean-up! There’s just one day to go before East Midlands In Bloom judges descend on Spalding to judge its floral displays.
This week Spalding water taxi has been out clearing the River Welland of Rubbish.
Ian Canham, Chief Executive of Broadgate Homes, which runs the water taxi, said because the weed has grown in the river it is holding back the rubbish so there has been more about.
But once the river is cleared he’s planning another surprise for the judges. He said: “Our narrow boat will be at the town mooring whilst judging is taking place, decorated with flowers from Finlay Flowers, one of Marks and Spencer’s biggest suppliers who are based in Spalding.
“We want to show the judges just what Spalding can do.”
You can join in today’s final clean-up, along with volunteers from the National Citizen Service, who have also been out all week led by Jan Whitbourn of Tulip Radio, and local councillors, by clearing up the area near you. Good luck everyone!
