Tribute to Ian Ebbs, from his sister, Kala:

This is a poem written specially for you big bruv

I wish that you could hear it

Perhaps you can from up above,

You were the kind of brother on occasions I would see

But you knew I was always there for you

As you were there for me,

Chasing me on nylon carpets

Shuffling your feet in socks

You used to laugh, as I would scream

Delivering your weapon of static shocks

Spider man you thought you were

Climbing so high up the wall

But not quite the talents of Spiderman

Because you had a fall,

Both your arms and wrists in plaster

To you it was so cool

Because you couldn't write for weeks

It was an easy time at school

Once standing sheepish in our doorway,

Catching blood dripping from your chin

You'd fallen off my moped

And scraped away some skin,

My new moped, I was mortified

Now had these scratches all down the side

It wouldn't have been so bad and I'd not been so upset

But it wasn't fully mine; I'd not finished paying for it yet

Party invites from me to you

Always yes would you reply,

You are the kind of dancer

All the others could rely,

Be it grease YMCA or the dance where you sit on the floor

You are the one that led the way

Wanting to dance some more

I will always have a part of you that alone belongs to me

But I'm not going to share it

Sorry, I'm selfish like that, you see

I will keep you in my memory and a place within my heart

And I thank our mum and dad for you

You are a work of art,

Today it is so very sad that I won't see you any more

And along with our brothers and sister, our five will become a four

The loss of you has made us see

How much we all love and need each other

What a tragic way to realise this

But thank you Ian, I love and miss you, my fab big brother

With love always Kala xx
