Holbeach nurses' plea to find hit and run youths
TWO Holbeach nurses want help to track down youths who tried to run them off the road in a frightening crash.
Joy Holden and Fiona Wood were travelling along Stockwell Gate, Whaplode, just before 10pm last Thursday on their way home from Holbeach Hospital when a car sped out of a side road and crashed into the front driver's side of their Mercedes van.
The car, a hatchback, reversed at speed and then rammed the back of the van before speeding off.
Joy (38) is a mother-of-four and Fiona has two teenage children.
Both mums were left frightened and shocked by the incident, but escaped without serious injury.
Joy said: "Luckily we were in a van otherwise God knows what would have happened.
"We were both quite shaken and couldn't believe they hit us the second time.
"There could've been six children without mums and a hospital with two fewer staff nurses as a result."
The Mercedes van was a write off and Joy says the car that hit them was purple and possibly had R4 in the number plate.
She says the hatchback must have been a write off too as a result of the high impact collision and is calling on anyone who may have information about the vehicle and the incident to approach police.
Joy believes the driver was in his late teens or early 20s and had an oval face and mousy hair. The passenger had a thin beard and a 'Roman' nose.
She said: "Somebody is covering for the boys. If it was one of my kids I would have shopped them by now."
Lincolnshire Police are investigating the incident and want to hear from anyone with information about the crash. Contact Spalding Police on 01775 722233 quoting incident 442 of October 8.
