South Holland and The Deepings MP John Hayes has become Commons Minister of the Year.

He was short-listed alongside two Secretaries of State – Theresa May and Michael Moore – and beat them in a vote by 400 parliamentarians.

The awards were devised to highlight excellence in Parliament and were organised by The House magazine, Parliament’s own publication.

Mr Hayes, the Energy Minister, said: “It’s something I am very proud of and something I will treasure.”
