Students and teachers at University Academy Holbeach all admitted to having barely slept the night before A level results day, but they had no reason to be worried.

The school were delighted to find that they had maintained their 100 per cent success rate from 2013, and that BTEC and trade course students had also been very successful in their results.

Students who did well included Ellie Gray who secured a place at Lincoln to read history by gaining a B in food technology, a C in history and another C in geography.

Ellie said: “I’m really happy as my results mean I can go to Lincoln and I really didn’t think I’d get in so I’ll definitely be celebrating tonight!

“Hard work and dedication are so important if you want to do well – just forget about your social life for a while and focus on studying, that’s my advice.”

Emma Ord is also off to Lincoln, but she’s going to study zoology having gained D*D*D* in applied sciences and an E in maths.

Emma said: “I’m really relieved and happy with my results.

“I’m not worried about going to university because all of my friends are going to the same place – I won’t miss them because I can’t actually get rid of them!”

Sophie Stockman, however, is going to De Montfort
University in Leicester to study graphic design and illustration: “Through doing a degree I hope that I can go on to work for a big brand like Orange or George at Asda, and that I will be able to gain enough experience to go freelance.

“I’d like to end up designing front covers and pages in books one day.”

Maggie Ward, deputy vice principal and head of sixth form, said: “We are proud to have maintained our 100 per cent success rate at A level.

“This is the result of tremendous amounts of hard work by our enthusiastic students and their highly skilled, committed teachers.

“We are grateful for the support of their families and wish them well as they move on to pastures new.

“Many students have been successful in BTECS and trade courses and we are thrilled with their successes.”
