Golfers swing £1,300 for Poppy Appeal

A charity golf tournament at Hovenden Park Golf Club has raised £1,311.40 for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Sunday’s winner was M Day, who collected his award from Poppy Appeal organiser Alan Sheppard.

Other trophies awarded were – longest drive: J Gray; nearest pin: J McGaritay and most putts: D Ellis.

Roger Green, from Holbeach branch of The Royal British Legion, said: “Grateful thanks are due to Hovenden Park Golf Club for allowing the use of all their facilities, equipment and the course and the generous donations of raffle prizes.

“The event would not have happened without the help of the following in organising and running the event – Carl Davies, Robert and Julia Eley, Avril Newey, Peter Brown and Geoff Smith, not forgetting Dennis Brown for all of the photographs.”
