Getting in community spirit

Arts, crafts and sports were all on the agenda at this year's first Community Spirit Play Day.

Delivered by South Holland Tenants' Group in partnership with Children's Links Play Rangers, the event at Whaplode St Catherine was well supported.

A spokesman for South Holland District Council said: "The young people of the village thoroughly enjoyed a very active session despite the strong wind making every effort to blow all the play equipment away!

"They planted up plant pots they had decorated, there was face painting, cricket, football, and lots more, finishing with games using a giant multi-coloured parachute.

"It was all good, healthy outdoor play and from the comments it would appear that everybody enjoyed themselves."

The Tenants' Group and Children's Links Play Rangers will be delivering more sessions across the district during the school summer holidays.

Flyers will be delivered and posters displayed in the areas they are visiting to give further details.
