Dance marathon aids charity

YOUNG Donington dancers hot-stepped their way through a whole day on the dancefloor for charity.

A team of seven teenagers took on a dance-a-thon from 8am until 6pm at Donington’s Thomas Cowley High School, and are set to hand over more than 800 to Cancer Research following their ten-hour marathon effort.

The 14 to 16 year olds were joined by teachers and friends during their lunch break and had come up with the the fundraising idea themselves – because they wanted to support a charity that impacts on everyone.

The students also set up a memory wall where people could write about loved ones they had lost as they made their donations.

Lindsey Allen, mum to dancer Lucy, helped out with the financial side of the fundraising effort.

She said: “They couldn’t move at the end of the evening but to raise in excess of 800 was a brilliant effort, I am really proud of them.”
