Couple puzzled by mystery white lights

MYSTERY lights in the sky left a Spalding man and his partner perplexed.

Paul Marriott and Karen Dawson travelled from Spalding to Donington at around 11pm on Monday last week and spotted two bright white lights in the night sky somewhere between Surfleet and Sutterton.

Mr Marriott works at Tulipland Butchers, Donington, and after a 15-minute visit the pair returned to Spalding and saw the unexplained phenomenon again.

They stopped on the A16/A152 link road by Link Road Farm Shop to try and make sense of the strange sight.

Mr Marriott said there were two flashing lights hovering and described them as like the lights on a police car but white.

He said: “I don’t really know what it was. We were just surprised and I can’t really offer an explanation for it.

“When we saw it on the way I thought it was two RAF planes doing some navigation practice but when we came back they were there again.

“They weren’t moving, just hovering.

“One was quite high and one was lower.”

Reports of Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings across the country have been on the increase recently and the national press reported that more than 100 people saw a series of lights in the sky in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Mr Marriott said: “With everything that has been in the papers recently you get a bit paranoid.

“There wasn’t much traffic around that night so I wonder if anyone else saw something?”
