Chaplain's 70th birthday party a gift for boat ministry

A special birthday celebration has helped to raise £360 for the Pilgrims Way III boat ministry.

Waterways chaplain the Rev Maurice Perry sold tickets for his 70th birthday party at Gosberton Methodist Church with money raised going to the ministry.

Senior steward Celia Hearth said: "The boat is a project that is very close to Maurice's heart and this was an ideal opportunity to raise some money for it. It was a lovely event and everyone really enjoyed it."

Pilgrims Way III is the flagship of Churches Together in Lincolnshire and its work is part of the churches' wider ministry for those who live and work on the waterways around Lincolnshire and The Wash, increasing links with and support for organisations such as the Environment Agency, British Waterways, Fen Tourism and various Internal Drainage Boards.
