The operator of a new primary school in Spalding due to open in 2014 has been revealed.
The Secretary of State has confirmed the appointment of the Boston Witham Academies Federation as the approved operator for the new primary academy in Wygate Park.
The Wygate Park Academy will open in September 2014, initially with a reception class only, offering up to the planned admission number of 30 places.
And parents whose children are due to start school in September can now apply for a place at the new academy.
The deadline for applications, which can be made online, is January 13.
Coun Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for children’s services, said: “Now that the Secretary of State has confirmed our preferred sponsor for the school we can look forward to working with them on the school offer for parents and help meet the demand on school places for local children.
“Being a Lincolnshire operator we already know Boston Witham Academies Federation very well from their excellent work at the academies in Boston, including the ‘outstanding’ Staniland Academy.
“I urge parents to get their admissions applications in before the deadline.
“All those interested in the new school will have a chance to meet the new operator at an information event in the New Year.”
The Boston Witham Academies Federation will be holding the event for interested parents and members of the local community at the South Holland centre on Monday, January 6.
People are welcome to drop in at any time between 2-7pm.
The new academy will be a one form entry primary school with sporting facilities and modern learning spaces located in the heart of a growing community.
It will provide top class facilities as well as much needed primary school places within the Wygate park area of Spalding.
The academy will be built on a site provided by Kier Homes in partnership with South Holland District Council and a substantial part of the funding will come from Kier Homes and local housing developments.
