Cash from Prince William and Kate Middleton photo donated

A big fat cheque for a world scoop Royals photo you saw first on Spalding Today was this week handed over to Spalding's Garth School.

Head teacher Daran Bland was delighted, on behalf of his pupils with severe learning difficulties and disabilities, to receive 500 from Pinchbeck florist Josie Williams and her friend Wendy Ablett of Spalding.

Josie snapped Kate Middleton and Prince William at his cousin Laura Fellowes' wedding after she and Wendy were beckoned into a pew at Snettisham parish church.

Her picture - the first of the couple together at a royal wedding - aroused massive interest when it appeared in the Lincolnshire Free Press and attracted more than 8,000 hits on this website.

Josie was courted by the media and last week received 500 for her picture from Hello! magazine.

She said: "I loved William's mother Princess Di and she was all for children - that's why we decided to give every penny of the Hello! money to the Garth School as it is a special school that does great things for its pupils. We think she would have liked that.

"I turned down other offers for the snap before settling on 500 from Hello! Then I had a sleepless night over it, worrying what Laura's family might feel about it and there was no way I wanted to make money for myself.

"Wendy and my husband Brian agreed with me. We're not rich but we wouldn't have felt right about keeping the money."
