Campaigner's fury at rail bonuses

Wednesday, 1pm - A SOUTH Lincolnshire transport campaigner has hit out at Network Rail's decision to dish out more than £2 million in bonuses to its company directors.

Spalding and Peterborough Transport Forum chairman George Scott commented on news that six directors at Network Rail, which manages and maintains tracks, signals and stations, have trousered more than 2.25million.

At last week's forum meeting, at South Holland District Council's Priory Road offices, he said: "I nearly fell off my chair with shock when I heard that.

"They can't even give us a railway service at the moment."

Network Rail is carrying out an upgrade of the Spalding railway line so that freight traffic can be diverted away from the East Coast Main Line.
