Businesses dig deep for veterans

Normandy veteran charity The Anglia Pilgrimage Fund is £700 better off thanks to generous businesses.

Curly Allatt, who is a veteran himself, collected the cash to help fund wreaths which will be taken to Normandy to mark the 65th anniversary of D-Day.

Rex Allen, assistant co-ordinator of the Anglia Pilgrimage Fund, said: "This is a lot of money and we are very grateful.

"It will go a long way towards paying for the wreaths, which we will take to Normandy.

"Curly has been on one of our pilgrimage trips in the past and decided to raise some cash for us by asking businesses in the Boston area to make a donation."

A cheque for 500 was presented to Flt Lt Andrew Mason by Harold Payne, of the Anglia Motel, Fleet, to help pay for a new minibus for Holbeach Air Cadets.
