Brownies get helping hand from Children's Fund

Around 100 youngsters will benefit from the Lincolnshire Free Press Children's Fund after a £400 donation to 1st Holbeach Brownies.

The money will go towards paying for new windows at a hut, which is used by up to 100 rainbows, brownies and guides.

The groups have been raising money to refurbish the hut, behind HSBC Bank, for the past three years and have managed to replace most of the rotting windows.

They have just three to go and applied to the fund for help.

Leader Jayne Dean said: "Over the past 18 months we have been able to have two new doors and four new large windows, leaving us with one large and two small windows to replace.

"We need 800 to pay for the remaining windows so the 400 awarded from the Children's Fund will go a long way towards this.

"We are very grateful."

Holbeach firm Bryan Thompson Windows has been doing work on the hut and has donated one free window, with a pledge to donate a second if the group can raise the funds to pay for the other two.

The Children's Fund was set up by the Lincolnshire Free Press to help projects that benefit the lives of under-18s in our area.
