Boy racer guilty of careless driving in Holbeach

A teenager from Holbeach has been hit in the pocket after being found guilty of careless driving in the town.

Joel Hammond (18) was ordered to pay fines totalling £515 by Spalding magistrates after he was convicted of driving without due care and attention.

The charge relates to allegations of racing and carrying out handbrake turns in the car park of Tesco Supermarket, Boston Road South, last year.

Inspector Jim Tyner, community policing inspector at Spalding Police Station, said: “This was excellent work by the local Community Beat Manager, PC Bob Jones, in dealing with issues that the community tells us matters most to them.

“Let this act as a warning to other young drivers that engage in this sort of behaviour.”

Hammond’s driving licence was endorsed with five penalty points.
