Boss asks: How can they put travellers on our site?
Residents in Quadring are up in arms over plans to put a travellers' camp on land in the village.
Petitions against a proposed travellers' site in Low Gate/Eaudike Road have already secured more than 200 signatures.
And more than 110 villagers attended a public meeting last week to express concerns about South Holland District Council's proposals to put a permanent site on land belonging to R Bratley (Quadring).
Parish council clerk Malcolm Stacey said villagers are unanimously against the proposals and are supporting the business which employs around 95 local people.
Other concerns raised were about Quadring and Donington primary schools which are already oversubscribed and turning pupils away.
Mr Stacey said a letter from the parish council outlining residents' concerns has been sent to South Holland District Council and he urged residents to send in their comments as well.
A spokesman for R Bratley (Plants) said: "Bearing in mind the council has given building permission to our company over the years up to this current building year 2007, how can they at the same time choose to site a gypsy and traveller camp in the middle of our operations?
"Does one hand know what the other hand is doing in South Holland District Council?"
Residents were due to attend a further public meeting about proposed travellers' sites, which was being held in Gosberton last night.
