Awards for loyal guides

Two Donington teenagers have been presented with guiding awards honouring their loyalty, understanding and determination.

Alice Rands (15) and Jordan Richardson (15) spent two years working towards their Baden Powell Challenge Awards, which covered a variety of topics, including healthy lifestyles, global awareness and skills and relationships.

The girls had to choreograph dance moves, hold a smoothies cocktail evening, study Fairtrade work around the world and organise a summer trip to Wickstead Park among their activities.

The pair have now left the 1st Donington Guides with Alice becoming a young leader with Donington Rainbows while Jordan is taking time out for her upcoming GCSEs, although she hopes to become a young leader with one of the district's units in September.

Leader Karen Rowe is very proud of the and the whole unit.

Anyone interested in becoming a young leader can contact Karen on 01775 822186.
