AUDIO clip: Crimewatch appeal for murdered Bourne worker

PREPARATIONS are complete for the broadcast of an appeal on tonight's Crimewatch for information over Alan Wood's murder.

A BBC TV film crew were at the scene of the crime in Lound, near Bourne, last Wednesday.

Mr Wood (50) was brutally stabbed to death at his home in Main Road on Saturday, October 24.

The investigation will feature as the lead story on the programme at 9pm, which will include an interview with Alan's mother, Maureen. A clip of this can be heard above.

It will involve a full reconstruction of events leading up to and after the murder.

Since the murder, police have released CCTV footage and an e-fit image of a suspect who tried to use Mr Wood's cash cards in Stamford and Bourne that weekend.

Mr Wood ran a garden maintenance business and supplemented his income by working at Sainsbury's in Bourne.

He was last seen alive on Wednesday, October 21, at the Willoughby Arms in Little Bytham.

Officers want anyone who saw his burgundy Jaguar Sovereign, registration K650 DTW, after that night to come forward.

CCTV and images show a man thought to be using Mr Wood's cards at a Natwest cash point in High Street, Stamford.

Seven attempts to withdraw money using the cards were made in Stamford and Bourne between Thursday, October 22, and Sunday, October 25. On three occasions money was taken.

Officers say he may have been forced to give over his PIN number before he was killed.
