Apologies over cemetery rubbish

Rubbish at Spalding Cemetery.

Rubbish at Spalding Cemetery.

Relatives who visit the graves of loved ones at Spalding cemetery have been assured that a mountain of rubbish will be removed later this week.

The pile , which is quite close to the graves, is dotted with plant pots.

A South Holland District Council spokesman said: “The heap is largely formed from the preparation of graves. It is a secluded corner at the back of the cemetery.

“Council workers have been preparing hanging baskets there in recent days and the area is scheduled for clean up later this week.

“We apologise for any distress this may have caused.”
