Snow and ice cause accidents and hold-ups between Holbeach and Spalding on Monday morning

Bad weather caused several accidents across South Holland this morning.

A replacement bus had to be sent to take children to school after the Brylaine double decker they were travelling on slipped off the road in Cobgate, Whaplode, at around 8.10am.

There was also a three vehicle accident involving an EMAS emergency car, a Skania lorry and a Ford Fiesta at 7.30am in St Mary’s Garden’s Whaplode.

At 7.40am in Mill Drove, Cowbit, a Ford Fiesta went into a dyke and a 7.45am a Suzuki Baleno left the road and ended up in a ditch at Counter Drain Drove, Tongue End.

And at 8.40am, a blue Ford KA hit a lamppost, causing it to fall down, in West Parade, Spalding.

Fortunately, no one was injured in any of the accidents but police are urging motorists to drive to the conditions as more snow and freezing conditions are forecast.
