THERE’S just one week to go until the Two Lips fundraising week gets under way – and there’s still plenty of time for our readers to get involved.
Events have been planned throughout the week from May 14-21 in aid of a number of good causes, which have been specially selected for the work they do with local people.
The week has been organised by The Rotary Club of Spalding, which hopes to raise more than £10,000 by co-ordinating various events.
Those set to benefit include Spalding’s branch of PHAB, the League of Friends of the Spalding Hospitals, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, and the groups using Monkshouse Scout Hut in Spalding.
Rotary International will also take a small portion for their nationally-supported charities.
The coffers have already been given an early boost with £2,000 from the Bakkavor staff shop, and a further £2,000 from a mystery donor.
The Spalding Guardian has backed the campaign and staff will be joining fundraising efforts by hosting a quiz night and selling the Two Lips whistles from its offices in The Crescent.
Editor Jeremy Ransome said: “This a great cause and we really want our readers to get behind The Rotary Club of Spalding and make some noise for the Two Lips campaign.”
Businesses across South Holland can still do their bit for the cause, with boxes of Two Lips whistles available to sell for donations of £1 or more for each whistle.
Readers are also still being welcomed to organise their own event as part of the campaign, whether it’s having a wear what you want to work day or having a cake sale.
