People have been knitting their socks off in a bid to help newborn babies in Africa.

Trish Newham, from the YarnShack, which is based at Silverwood Garden Centre in Long Sutton, has been supported by many local customers who have taken a pattern for baby jumpers and knitted them.
They also had them sent in from various groups, including churches, an RSPB group and the Rotary Club at Long Sutton.
The little jumpers will be sent out to Africa, probably Uganda, and will replace the newspaper that newborn babies are wrapped in when they leave hospitals.
Trish Newham said: “We’d like to say a very public thank you to everyone who knitted for this charity and left their work in our care.”
