TWENTY-three children had a big party on Wednesday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Morton Pre-School.

One of the trio of founding mums, Brenda Hammond, is still with the pre-school and works as admin manager alongside six other members of staff.

Mrs Hammond said: “We have got quite a lot of children whose parents came and we will be starting on the grandchildren before too long.”

The mums originally started the pre-school so their own children had somewhere to go but then numbers grew and more staff joined.

All 24 children on roll were invited to the party, but sadly one couldn’t attend because of illness. The youngsters played games and had lots of treats, including going home with 40th party balloons.
