It’s enough to make mums cry and make the most cynical smile at Christmas. The curtain has risen on festive activities across South Holland and the Spalding Guardian was there to capture the joy, laughter and tears.

Working Space Theatre presented The Snow Queen at Surfleet Primary School with the help of some of the pupils.

Tydd St Mary Church of England Primary School pupils have also presented their nativity play, Away In a Manger.

Santa was spotted out with Spalding Lions in Hall Place fundraising and giving out sweets.

A traditional three-course Christmas lunch welcomed 65 guests of Mencap at Pinchbeck Village Hall.

South Holland district councillor Gary Taylor helped fund the meal and there was a raffle of prizes donated by local businesses.

Gifts were distributed by the Spalding Lions’ Club Santa.

At the Little Tots Christmas party at Gedney Hill village hall, Santa delivered gifts and baubles bearing the name of each child.
