The latest news from Guardian Angel
Picture the scene: Angel was strolling by a dark blue Volvo parked on double-yellows in Spalding’s Sheep Market and one of our traffic enforcement officers had just reached for his ticket machine.
But it turned into a lucky day for the errant parker. First a lady passenger in the vehicle wound down the window to shout out the reason for the stop on the yellows.
“He’s gone to the toilet,” she yelled. And then the driver emerged at speed from the loos – pleading equally loudly not to be booked for the call of nature – and the enforcement officer walked on by without issuing a ticket.
* Angel is a fan of Antiques Road Trip, often screened on BBC 2 after teatime, and was delighted to learn from one of her reporter colleagues that antiques expert and show regular Charlie Ross – who visited Spalding Antiques – is every bit as charming off the small screen as he is on.
While gazing out of the windows of Guardian Towers on Tuesday afternoon, Angel did feel sorry for the film crew shooting for BBC, however.
For every time they tried to film Mr Ross outside the antiques shop another crowd of schoolchildren would swarm by and block the camera!
* Spring is bursting out all over! As well as seeing her first family of ducklings of the year on the Welland, Angel spotted her first swallows ducking and diving over the Coronation Channel, no doubt eating a large meal to replenish the energy lost in their mammoth journey here.
* How lovely to browse the tasty treats on Spalding’s Italian market on Sunday, and then wander down to Sergi’s for an Italian meal. Angel was also pleased to see that Charmed Interiors opened specially, and hopes they got lots of shoppers too.
