YOU can soak up the sunshine or get soaking wet in the rain as our summer lives up to the fine old English tradition of being tough to predict.

Tuesday’s scorcher saw temperatures soared into the high 20s and inspired the Morgan family to enjoy a sunshine picnic in Springfields Gardens yesterday lunchtime.

But later Spalding had a proper soaking and the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for the East Midlands as heavy thunderstorms brought the threat of localised flooding.

The Met Office said Spalding would have a dry morning today with heavy rain by 1pm and hail by 4pm.

The forecasters say tomorrow will be the best of the next three days with no rain forecast and temperatures set to hit a pleasing 23C.

Daytime temperatures on Saturday are expected to dip to 18C, with a mixture of sunshine and light rain showers, while on Sunday we should see the thermometer climb to 20C with no rain due until night-time.

Saturday is expected to have the lowest overnight temperature – 12C.
