UPDATE, Friday 1pm: PROBLEMS with the water supply betweeen Spalding and Holbeach have been resolved.
A spokesman for Anglian Water said the majority of those affected in the PE11 and PE12 postcodes should have had their water back on just after 9am this morning.
He said: “The problem was not a burst water main as first suspected, it was an electrical failure at one of our booster pumping stations.
“As Lincolnshire is a flat and low-lying county, we can not rely on hills to carry the water down and around the network.
“We have pumping stations strategically placed and one suffered a failure.”
HOMES and several schools across parts of Spalding, Holbeach and Whaplode are currently without water.
George Farmer Technology and Language College in Holbeach, Holbeach Bank Primary School and Whaplode Primary School have been among those to close their doors to pupils because of a suspected burst water main.
An Anglian Water spokesman said the problem was first reported to them just after 6.30am.
He said it was affecting homes in the PE11 and PE12 postcode areas.
Engineers are currently investigating the problem.
