AN invited audience packed the hall for three performances of the tragedy Aida by students at University Academy Holbeach.

The annual school production is the highlight of the year, according to head of music Sam Graper who was joint producer with director Cath Yates, teacher of English at the academy.

Lead roles went to students Dominique Hanlon, who played Aida; Jack Fowler, who was Ramades, the Captain of the Guard; Hannah Wickham, the Egyptian princess; and the supporting male role Nereb was performed by Sam Marriott.

Sam Graper said: “The performances really were amazing. The singing of the two lead roles, Dominique Hanlon who is in Year 10, and Jack Fowler who is in Year 11, was phenomenal.

“It was a difficult show to do, being a tragedy, and the songs weren’t easy, but we did it because we knew the kids could pull it off.”
