HOLBEACH residents are being urged to back an effort to be crowned Lincolnshire’s most attractive village or small town.
The town is shortlisted in the top ten for this year’s Best Kept Villages and Small Towns Competition.
Parish councillor Jenny Worth is hoping that Holbeach can regain the title it last won in 1997.
She said: “Judging is in the next couple of months and the sort of things they look for are noticeboards up to date and whether we’re letting residents know what’s going on.
“A lot of work has been done by Holbeach In Bloom and it has a spin-off because the town looks nice.”
Holbeach earned its place on the shortlist because of its impressive record in the competition over its 50-year history. Since 1966, it has been commended five times, won once and finished runner-up in 2010 and 2011.
This year’s competition has attracted more than 120 entries in five classes and will be judged over three rounds between now and September.
