MOTORISTS could be forgiven for thinking they were seeing things when hitchhiker Nick Wrightson passed through town – with a fridge in tow.

The 53-year-old made Spalding his second stop on a 200-mile round trip around Lincolnshire after being inspired by TV presenter and comedian Tony Hawks’ best-selling Round Ireland with a Fridge book.

After passing through town on Tuesday morning, Mr Wrightson, of Sleaford, was heading off to Bourne before taking in Grantham, Lincoln, Gainsborough, Louth and Skegness – hopefully all before Monday morning when he has to be back at work.

He is asking anyone who sees him on the road to give him a lift – and everyone else to support his efforts by donating money to Help for Heroes by going on the charity website.

And if you’re wondering what’s inside the fridge – just sweets, dried fruit and other essentials.
