Robin Cross is trying to compile a history of Long Sutton Cricket Club, particularly from 1920 to 1928, and hopes that relatives of former players might have pictures or other mementoes he could use.
Robin and his family were members from 1946 (when his brother played) to 1985. They always understood the club was set up in 1934 but Robin’s research has thrown up mentions as early as 1834.
Robin is currently interested in the period from 1920 to 1928, when the club disappeared until being re-started in 1934.
Robin says: “What is really interesting is that not a single player from 1928 was involved when they re-started in 1934.”
Taken from the match reports, the main players over the 1920-28 period were Frank Beazor, Frank Donell, H Harris, J Hill, Jim Hill (two separate people), G Loweth, Fred Mashford, W Nicholls, J A French, William Jakes and Ed Catlin.
Robin, who has submitted this image of the team from 1963, asks anyone who can help to contact him on email@example.com or 01622 756428.
