Spalding People’s Parade organisers are marching on with their plans for May – but they need your help.

A plea has gone out to local businesses, organisations and schools for support with donations, practical support and finance.

Anna Smolen, sponsorship and donation co-ordinator, said: “We expect to have over 100 participant groups this year, of all ages and we are trying to make this event bigger and better than the last.

“In order to complete this project, we need some funds and volunteers as additional hands to help. If you are interested, please contact us and we will be pleased to keep you informed with regular updates on our project.

“Any amount, great or small, helps us get closer to our goal to make this event a day for families.”

Last year’s first event proved a hit with the people who turned out to watch it.

Some 14 hand-pushed floats made up the basis of a parade that set off from Sir John Gleed School and lasted more than an hour.

Stalls and entertainment in the school grounds kept families busy until teatime.

This year’s parade is set to take place on the second Bank Holiday weekend in May – on Sunday, May 24.

The route will be the same as last year but organisers hope to grow the number of participants. If you can help, email spaldingparade@outlook.com or call 07437 936684.
