THIS Christmas there’s an opportunity to make someone’s day – and we need your help to do it.
Our sister paper the Spalding Guardian has joined up with Spalding’s Agape Care Foodbank for a Christmas appeal and we’d like Lincolnshire Free Press readers to pitch in too.
The foodbank is aiming to give out special hampers to deserving families and individuals who have fallen on hard times the week before Christmas.
Produce World Marshalls has agreed to donate all of the seasonal vegetables but the rest of the ingredients are needed to make it into a proper festive feast.
The foodbank has put together a Christmas shopping list and we’re asking our readers to buy an item and take it to one of four drop-off points – at our offices in The Crescent, Spalding, the Lighthouse Church in Haverfield Road, Spalding, Sainsbury’s in Holland Market, or Market House in Long Sutton.
The list includes cranberry sauce, bread sauce, stuffing, gravy granules, Christmas cake, savoury snacks, Pringles, Christmas pudding, crackers, selection boxes and chocolate mints.
We’re also looking for a meat supplier to join our campaign.
Keep checking the Spalding Guardian, which is out every Thursday, for updates on how the appeal is progressing as we head into the festive season.
