The future for services at Crowland Methodist Church appears to be brighter after donations totalling £3,500.

A £500 gift from an anonymous donor and £3,000 from the designated funds of Crowland district councillors Angela Harrison and Paul Przyszlak (right and second left) were presented to stewards Margaret Smith and Mick Goodman.

The financial boost comes about a month after the chapel’s centenary was marked with a celebration service.

Mr Goodman said: “For the past five years, the church has been discussing whether to move to other premises or to stay at its historical site in Reform Street which has served the community for over a century.

“The decision has now been taken for the church to remain open at its present site for the forseeable and, as a result of this decision, we have been given a welcome helping hand to keep the building in good repair for its future.

“We are very grateful to Couns Angela Harrison, Paul Przyszlak and a private donor for their generosity and foresight in helping to maintain a place of worship for community groups to use, both at present and in the future.”
