Over £800 was raised at a hog roast to celebrate the Merchant Navy Association’s 25th anniversary at Bramble Hall in Sutterton.

An extra £2,000 was donated by Chosen Charity Shop of Holbeach, plus £400 from Boston and Spalding Pilotage Association.

The mayor of Boston, Aliaon Austin and her consort Richard Austin, Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Tony Worth, and South Holland District Council chairman, Robert Clark, were all in attendance at the event.

The hog roast was provided by Trevor Sharpe Butchers in Gosberton.

Sandy Hern, who organised the event, said: “The hog roast looked so impressive – it actually arrived to a great round of applause.

“We also had two bands – Retrospect and country duo 5 O’Clock Somewhere – at the event which everybody loved.

“The event went very well.”
