New health service is one step closer

A new NHS service for South Holland is one step closer to reality.

South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group has completed a rigourous scrutiny exercise – known as authorisation – set by the NHS Commissioning Board.

The group, which will be responsible for planning and buying health services for 155,000 registered patients from April 1, was assessed against 119 criteria and was granted authorisation with 16 conditions.

It will now need to finalise its strategic plans and arrangements for finance and governance and demonstrate it is working in partnership with key stakeholders to deliver services.

Once the Commissioning Board is satisifed it is able to invest in the right health services for local people, the CGG will become fully authorised.

South Lincolnshire CCG, which is made up of 15 GP practices, will hold budget of more than £200million to spend on community, mental and hospital services.

Chairman Dr Miles Langdon said: “It’s our vision for the people of South Lincolnshire to live longer and healthier lives.”
