A Holbeach charity shop has raised £10,000 towards the cost of purchasing a newer minibus for Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust.

The minibus is used to take Holbeach Hospital’s day care service and nursing home residents out on day trips, as well as collecting people who have mobility problems and otherwise would not be able to access the hospital’s day care service.

Hospital manager Maxine Winch said: “The League of Friends work tirelessly to raise funds via their shop in Holbeach and through their committee of dedicated fundraisers.

“The support of the local community continues to be invaluable and is greatly appreciated. We have also received donations from many individuals as well who wanted to assist us and I would like to thank everyone who contributed.”

The League of Friends has been working tirelessly to raise funds for Holbeach Hospital since 1988. Its shop in the High Street, manned by volunteers, provides much-needed funds for the hospital.

In the past the Friends have also helped to fund the cost of new windows, baths and the redecoration of one of the hospital day rooms.

The fundraising also goes towards providing a fantastic programme of entertainment throughout the year for the enjoyment of residents and their families.
