Free course to help children lose weight

A programme to encourage healthy eating and active lifestyles will begin in Spalding this month.

Fit Kids is a free weight management programme for families with overweight children aged eight–11.

The sessions include fun and games, as well as healthy eating and lifestyle advice.

Sarah Clarke, Physical Activity Manager at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “Leading a healthy lifestyle is a difficult thing to do; especially when life is already so busy. These courses help families to get the right balance; fitting in regular physical activity and eating a healthy diet.”

More than 500 families have taken part in the programme over the last two years, including 40 families in South Holland.

Sarah said: “The changes we see over 12 weeks are incredible; children gain confidence, get fitter and the whole family is encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle.”

The programme in Spalding starts on January 21 and takes place every Monday at The Fitness Company, Spring Gardens, from 4-5.15pm.

There are 12 places available. For more information call 01775 766 775.
