A mum and daughter baked hundreds of cakes to raise cash for The British Heart Foundation following the death of a loved one from coronary heart disease.

Terrance Depear (67), a former excavations worker with North Level Drainage Board, collapsed and died suddenly while out shooting at Gedney Hill last April.

His daughter, surgery healthcare assistant Sandra Wigston, and wife, Jennifer, baked cakes to be sold at a fundraising day at Moulton Medical Centre and raised £427 for the charity.

Businesses including Delicious Coffee Shop at Long Sutton, Joan’s Cakes at Weston, Grandma’s Tuck Shop at Tydd St Giles and McColl’s Bakery at Gedney Hill donated prizes for a lucky numbers game and there were cash donations from well-wishers.

The surgery also did blood pressure checks on the day as high blood pressure can be linked to heart problems.
