Advice to take the strain off hospitals
HOSPITAL bosses are urging anyone feeling unwell to only use the accident and emergency departments if there is an emergency.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is asking for patients to instead call the NHS on 111 to have their needs fully assessed and be directed to the most appropriate service.
It says pressure can be taken off emergency departments by treating coughs, colds, aches and pains with medicines from home or the local pharmacy.
Minor illness and injuries can be treated at a local minor injuries unit.

My personal experience of the 111 is that I'd never use it again.
