The Rotary Club of Holbeach hosted its annual Stroke Awareness Day at All Saints Church in Holbeach on Saturday morning.

More than 90 people volunteered to have their blood pressure checked and five were advised to visit their doctor for further checks. For the first time there were no urgent referrals.
Graham Scorthorne, chairman of the Community and Vocation Committee, said: “One man stopped me to explain that three years ago he attended a session and learned he had a problem. He is now healthy and fit but had he not been picked up by our team he understands he would not have been around today”.
The Rotary Club was joined by a health trainer from Lincolnshire CVS, who picked up two important referrals, and a co-ordinator from the First Contact Scheme also helped a number of local residents.
