GYMNASTS are a balance beam closer to making the move to their club’s new home thanks to a successful ball.

A “fantastic” turn-out of party-goers was treated to good food and a great atmosphere, helped by local band Wildboys, to bring in £2,631.75 for Holbeach and Fenland Gymnastic Club.

The club has already raised almost £13,000, but needs another £25,000 to enable it to move to new premises after it was forced to quit its hall at Long Sutton’s Peele Community College.

It plans to convert a derelict warehouse in Lime Walk, Long Sutton, into a fully-fitted out gym.

One of the organisers Jodie Clark said: “The idea was to have this as a one-off fundraising ball, but the event went so well several people were already wanting to book tables for next year, so we decided to make it an annual event for the club.

“The ball was a huge success but with a gigantic mountain still to climb to reach our target we would appreciate any offers of help.”
