Nearly 600 guests donned their finery for the annual Spalding Midsummer Ball on Saturday, with profits helping three charities.
Macmillan Cancer Support, Action Medical Research and the Teenage and Young Adult Oncology Ward at Peterborough City Hospital all benefited from the sparkling occasion.
The event, which took place at Springfields Events Centre, aimed to raise even more than the £21,000 donated in 2013, though this year’s total has yet to be confirmed.
The guests were treated to a BAFTA-themed evening, with pictures taken by the Digital Paparazzi group upon arrival, a champagne reception and dinner.
While the Party Rockers, a disco and Fraud Monty provided entertainment, the two auctions that took place were another highlight of the night, overseen by auctioneer Annabelle Parkinson.
Lots included a week-long holiday in Murcia, signed Gary Barlow memorabilia, a luxury boot camp experience for two in Grantham, and two tickets to the Brit Awards 2015 – a donation from Mr and Mrs R Bell which raised £1,700 alone.
The celebrity theme of the evening even extended to its guests with Kieron Richardson from Channel 4’s Hollyoaks a guest, and he even donated a tour of the soap set to the auction.
