The latest from our girl about town
Angel very much enjoyed a visit to Frankie and Benny’s at Springfields on the weekend to celebrate a young friend’s birthday. The food was delicious and served to us by none other than Spiderman. It certainly was a new experience for Angel and her family!
* Angel spotted a lovely sight in Spalding town centre recently. A little dog was closely guarding a couple of carrier bags of shopping while its owner was presumably inside a shop. The dog looked quite cute, possibly not the best example of a fierce guard dog.
* There was a celestial flapping of wings as Angel heralded in delight at the success of the first-ever Education Awards, jointly hosted by the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian. The first conclusion Angel drew was the impression of it being one of the few occasions when primary and secondary schools could meet together in one place. The memories of a truly magical night at Spalding’s South Holland Centre will live long in the memory.
* Remember the famous sports out-take where legendary horse racing commentator Sir Peter O’Sullevan tries to tell TV viewers what’s happening on the course through thick fog? Guardian reporter Winston Brown found out how hard it is while at an unusually dismal Market Deeping for a match between the town’s football team and visitors from Wellingborough Town. At times, it was like watching football in a sauna.
* Having ‘banned’ a colleague from borrowing her phone charger (because she forgot to return it last night), Angel was interested to observe said colleague looking flustered because she had lost her phone.
