The latest news from our girl about town...

Angel didn’t realise how aggressive Spalding’s ducks could be until she saw them in action yesterday morning.

While they were enjoying some donated breadcrumbs along the riverabank, a small, hungry gull decided to join in the meal.

Within seconds he had been pounced upon by four mallards who pecked at him quite ferociously.

Eventually he got away but was caught again before he could fly, eventually escaping at the second time of asking.

*Did anyone else see those weird, long bright lights hovering over Spalding on Tuesday evening?

Angel is sure there was a rational explanation, but apparently they could be spotted in Boston and Peterborough, too.

She’d love to know what they were – if you have an idea please email spaldingeditor@jpress.co.uk and he’ll pass it on to her.

*“Don’t squat while wearing skinny jeans” was the wonderful advice being given by doctors in several national newspapers this week.

Apparently a lady in Australia did and was hospitalized for four days after experiencing muscle damage, swelling, and nerve blockages in her legs after squatting for several hours.

Angel hasn’t worn skintight anything for several years but has taken note and certainly won’t be bucking that particular trend.

*Angel will be attending the funeral of a very special lady on Friday.

Christine Jackson, who lost her fight against cancer last month worked as dinner lady, caretaker and governor at Tydd St Mary Primary School for 45 years.

Christine, who made it her duty to give every child in the school a birthday cake, is already hugely missed in the village.

Rest in peace.
