The continued delivery of used furniture and household items to members of the community in South Holland has been secured with the help of a £1,000 grant.
The charity South Holland Community Furniture Recycling Project, which provides donated furniture and household items for those in need, hardship or distress throughout south Lincolnshire, was awarded the grant as part of the third round of donations from The Bernard Matthews Fund.
Lynne Fretwell, project manager of South Holland Community Furniture Recycling Project, said: “For many families and individuals in need, our service is the only way they can afford to furnish their homes. An essential feature of the service is the ability to collect unwanted furniture and to deliver goods to those in need free of charge.
“Our service, therefore, totally relies upon the hiring of our delivery vehicle and the grant will be used towards its running costs. It was wonderful to receive the funding and we are extremely grateful to Bernard Matthews Farms for the contribution.”
Launched in October 2009 to help a wide range of rural charities and voluntary initiatives across Norfolk, north Suffolk and Lincolnshire, the fund has already provided £15,000 in grants.
It is administered by the Norfolk Community Foundation.
