A PROJECT which provides pre-loved furniture to hard-up residents has been awarded a grant of £2,823.
The South Holland Furniture Recycling Project was given the cash by the Big Society Awards for All Grants Programme to advertise its service and encourage an increase in donations.
The charity serves the whole of South Holland and aims to alleviate poverty by making quality donated furniture for local families facing financial hardship so they can turn their depressing dwellings into a home.
It relies on the generosity of residents to donate furniture, help from local businesses and small cash grants from South Holland District Council and Lincolnshire County Council.
The Trustees believe that for every £1 their clients spend at the project they receive at least £3 benefit.
The grant will be used to help raise awareness for the charity in a bid to encourage more people to donate furniture.
A spokesman said: “We are pleased that the Big Society Awards for All Programme recognises the value of work that this local charity does in helping those households facing financial hardship.”
