HORSES and carriages, camper vans, vintage cars and even a wheelie bin helped students make their grand entrances to Spalding’s prom on Friday.

HORSES and carriages, camper vans, vintage cars and even a wheelie bin helped students make their grand entrances to Spalding’s prom on Friday.

The 350 pupils from Spalding’s four schools - Spalding Grammar, Spalding High, Gleed Boys’ and Gleed Girls’ - dressed in their best to mark the end of their GCSE exams with an event at Springfields Events Centre.

Organiser and Gleed Boys’ whole school manager Anthony Grunwell said: “It was absolutely brilliant. It went like clockwork.

“It must be pointed out that in excess of 600 spectators, mums, dads, grandparents and friends came to watch. “It took two-and-a-half hours from when the first vehicle arrived to getting the last one in.”

Party-goers enjoyed a band and a disco on the night and tucked into other treats including candyfloss and popcorn.

Mr Grunwell said bookings have already been made to keep the event going for the next two years.
